More breakdance news (I'm behind as always):
Winner of 2007's Battle of the Year International goes to Korea's Extreme Crew and the winner of the Best Show goes to Japan's Turn Phrase Crew. The Battle of the Year is often referred to as the "World Cup" of breaking.
Check out the finals between Korea and Japan here:
Part 1
Part 2
This means that Korea has won the BOTY 4 times in the last 6 years. (And Japan's won Best Show 3 times in the last 5 years). CRAZY! Why are Asians so good at b-boying?
While we're on the topic of b-boying, Asian American Ronnie also won this year's Red Bull BC One. (After so many attempts, he finally got it!)
Woah man, I've been out of it for a while. Sorry for the lack of updates, but I'm back to once again enrich this world with awesome Asian goodness.
In Australia, I caught the final episode of "Thank God You're Here" for this year and was pleasantly surprised to find Anh Do in it. I also notice that he's on "Dancing with the Stars" too. This is a show that I refused to watch after Pauline Hanson was on it. To even consider that racist disgraced "politician" (well technically she wasn't even a politician) a "celebrity" is an insult to intelligence. Nevertheless, now that Anh is on it, I may consider watching it to root for him. He's so awesome!
The loveable bboy Hokuto "Hok" Konishi on "So You Think You Can Dance" (season 3) didn't make it to the top 10, but top 12 is still something to be very proud of. Someone uploaded a video of Hok sending himself off like a true performer.
Apparently Hok is now dating one of the other contestants from SYTYCD, but it's not Jaimie... it's Lacey. ( --> Link ^^) Don't know how that happened, but... keep representing brother! (To my American readers: you probably know who won but please don't tell us! We're always behind in Australia!)
I haven't been breakdancing for too long but I don't need to be a pro to know that Koreans are pretty much the best bboys out there. If you think you'd like Pachelbel's Canon played on traditional Asian instruments with beatboxers and breakdancing, you're going to love this!
(For those who are curious, the bboys are from the crew - "Last For One").
